The Dignity of Remaining Unfinished
We live in a world that is obsessed with the "After" photo.
We love transformation stories. We love the narrative of the person who burned out, quit their job, moved to an island, and found total bliss. But that isn't the reality for most of us. Most of us are still in the "During."
We are still showing up. We are still meeting the targets. We are still wearing the professional mask.
But internally, something has shifted.
The Quiet Realization
If you’ve ever sat in a meeting and realized that you’ve stopped fighting for your ideas not because you’re lazy, but because you no longer have the heart to defend them you’ve experienced what I call Quitting in Your Head.
It is a silent withdrawal. It is the moment you realize that your competence has become your camouflage. Because you are reliable, no one notices that you are drifting.
Why I Won't Give You a Solution
When I started writing the reflections that became my
book, I Quit In My Head, I felt a pressure to provide a "Conclusion." I thought I needed to give the reader a map out of the woods.
But as I wrote, I realized that the "Map" is exactly what makes us so tired. We are exhausted by the pressure to be constantly "working on ourselves." We treat our healing like a corporate KPI another project to be managed, another target to hit.
I decided to refuse the solution.
You Are Not a Project
I wrote this book for the people who are tired of being told they are "unfinished."
You are allowed to be tired. You are allowed to be "done" in your head while you figure out your physical next step. You are allowed to want a smaller, truer life that doesn't require a constant performance of success.
This blog, and the book that came from it, is not a manual for fixing your life. It is simply a quiet place to land. It is a reminder that you don’t need to be repaired to be allowed peace.
If you’re tired of trying to become someone else, this book will sit with you where you already are.
I Quit In My Head: A Quiet Guide for People Who Are Still Showing Up is available now.
